Pope Francis receives Facebook CEO in private audience

(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis met with Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, and his wife, Priscilla Chan, on Monday in a private audience in the Vatican.

A statement released by the Holy See Press Office said: “They spoke about how to use communication technologies to alleviate poverty, encourage a culture of encounter, and help deliver a message of hope, especially to those people who are most disadvantaged.”

Papal Audience kabilang ang PM ng Latvia at Presidente ng UN General Assembly

Vatican City, (VIS)- Nagpahayag ng kagalakan ang Holy See Press Office sa pagdalaw sa Vatican ni Nassir Abdulaziz al-Nasser noong Biyernes ika-15 ng Hunyo 2012, presidente ng ika-66 session ng General Assembly ng United Nations. Nakipagpulong din ang panauhin kay Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone, S.D.B. na sinamahan naman ni Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, secratary ng Relations with States.

Pahayag ng Holy See Press:
"The central theme of the cordial discussions was the role of the United Nations Organisation, and especially of the General Assembly, in conflict resolution. Particular consideration was given to the conflicts currently affecting various regions of the world, especially Africa and the Middle East, and to the serious humanitarian emergencies they provoke.


"Attention then turned to the Catholic Church's contribution to peace and development, and to the importance of cooperation between religions and cultures".

Ngayon sa balita mula sa VIS, matapos ang lingguhang General Audience tinanggap ng Santo papa Benedicto XVI si Valdis Dombrovskis, Prime Minister ng Republika ng Latvia. At katulad ng protocol, nakipagpulong din ang Prime Minister kay Cardinal Bertone at Archbishop Mamberti.

"During their cordial discussions the parties highlighted the good relations that exist between the Holy See and the Republic of Latvia, and the valuable contribution the Catholic Church makes to society, in particular on questions concerning the family and the promotion of a humanism open to spiritual and transcendental values.
"The conversation also focused on questions of mutual interest, with particularly emphasis on the serious economic and financial crisis which is affecting the lives of European peoples".
